MHBS Mooncakes 2020

This year we have two ranges of mooncakes to offer to aid our Building Fund.

We will announce the baked mooncakes shortly, but our durian snow-skins are already available for order.

They are handsomely packaged, and each box of 4 large mooncakes comes with a gold chiller bag.

They are $68.80 per box.

Delivery is a fixed $8 if you order less than 4 boxes or free for 4 boxes or more. Delivery to homes is in the evening, or to offices during the daytime.

With 4 boxes of mooncakes you will also get a free box of Mao Shan Wang durian mochi, which are like small snow-skin mooncakes. There are 8 mochi in a box.

Boxes of mochi are available separately for $15.80. There is a free cooler bag with every 4 boxes of mochi.

We will be selling these mooncakes and mochi while stocks last. You are welcome to order now and arrange delivery closer to Mid-Autumn (1st October).

New Sandalwood Incense

We know many of you are missing the Shrine’s Miracle incense. Because of COVID-19 transportation restrictions, we are temporarily unable to get new stock.

You may not know that our incense goes through a process where it is blessed before it is distributed to members. To tide us over, we have sourced Sandalwood sticks from a supplier here in Singapore.

We tested many types, and this was the one selected by Master. We believe they have enough stock here to supply us until border controls are lifted. The review from the Shrine of this incense is “a very pleasant smell, fragrant but not overwhelming”.

6 boxes of 20 (total of 120) sticks costs $10.

If you would like to arrange to pick it up from the Shrine, we are using the same form as the water.

Reminder Regarding Water

It has been a couple of months since we updated you regarding our COVID-19 precautions. The Shrine continues to remain closed to all visitors.

  1. All healing remains suspended until further notice.
  2. However, we will provide water on a need basis.
  3. We will make private arrangements with each person for either delivery or pick-up, where feasible.

This may change if there are any government safety measures which control movement and we will update you further if we can no longer provide this service.

We will be using the same form as previously to arrange these Shrine services. If you submit this form, one of our volunteers will get in touch to make arrangements with you. It may take a couple of days, so please be patient.

Food on Friday

MHBS is providing free vegetarian meals on Fridays for all members (and any family staying with them) during the month of June.

This is our way of spreading some love. We are in this together!

How it works:

  • we will call all members of our WhatsApp group on Monday (June 1) to find out if you would like meals
  • you can register for one week or for the entire month
  • you can order as many as you need for your household
  • the meals will be delivered to your home on Friday between 3pm and 6pm

If you don’t get a call or you wish to change your order:

  • if you don’t hear from us on Monday (June 1) then please call or WhatsApp Alice (9834 5569) on Tuesday or Wednesday (June 2 & 3) to place your order directly
  • if you wish to vary your order, please let us know by Wednesday of that week so that we can purchase ingredients and prepare meals correctly

How you can help:

  • if you know any member who is not in our WhatsApp group, please let them know by forwarding them this message or calling them, as they may not be in our records and may not receive a call from us on Monday

MHBS 将在六月的每个星期五为所有会员及会员的家庭成员们提供免费的素食餐。为了抗疫，相信许多会员们都处于自我隔离的状态，购买食物，食品都比平时来的麻烦及困难许多，也因此佛堂将在每个星期五为所有会员提供免费餐品。

1. 我们将在每个星期一（6月1日）透过whatsapp联络所有会员，向您确认是否需要免费餐品。
2. 您也可以向工作人员注册一次性的免费餐品，或是直接注册一个月(4次)的免费餐品注册。
3. 您可以向工作人员登记所需要餐品的数量。
4. 餐品将在每个星期五下午3点至6点之间发放到您的住家。
5. 如果您没有接获通知，或想要更正免费餐品的登记细节，也可以在6月2日和3日联络Alice (9834 5569) whatsapp,任何变更请在6月3日之前通知我们，好让我们能够准确的准备餐品的分量。
6. 也请你把此消息发给所有不在whatsapp群组的会员们。

Update Regarding Shrine Operations

2020 Moh Hong Buddhist Shrine Digital Vesak

Moh Hong Buddhist Shrine would like to invite you to join the Shrine via teleconference on Vesak for a day of observance and prayer for world peace and recovery from the pandemic. The program as follows. You are welcome to join us in any of the sessions.
Vesak Day (7th May 2020)
  • 10 am Offering of incense and prayer for peace & health for all mankind, chanting of the five sutras
  • 12noon Offering of incense and meditation
  • 3 pm Offering of incense and meditation
  • 8pm Final offering of incense and prayer for peace & health for all mankind, Mass chanting (five sutras, praises to Buddha, and heart sutra), Message from Spiritual Master
We will be using Zoom platform for this purpose. The details for installing this app will be sent separately.

We’ll be posting more information closer to Vesak Day, including the Zoom link and instructions on how to find us. In the meantime, we would love to see everyone on the day. Zoom is available in the app store for Apple devices and in the play store for Android. You can also use it via a computer web browser. You will need to create an account, but it is free.
 
This year there are no events that require a vegetarian diet, however some members have chosen to observe a week of vegetarianism and some have chosen 3 days. If you do decide that you would like to include a 3 day vegetarian diet as part of your celebration of Vesak day, you should start from 11pm on Sunday night (3rd May).

Vesak 2020 Celebration

To protect the health of our members and the public from the risks of the Corona Virus, we have made the difficult decision to NOT hold a public event this year.

Our Vesak celebration this year will be held for one day only, on Thursday, May 7, at our Shrine.

As a precaution, we are asking everyone to nominate approximate timing (2-hour slots) for their visit, so that we can spread visitors throughout the day and avoid excessive crowding. We will also be conducting temperature checks and sanitising the space regularly.

Blessing will be conducted throughout the day.

Andy is taking registration for fruit order and timing at the Shrine during our remaining openings leading up to Vesak.

【2020巫峰佛堂卫塞活动取消通知】

 

各佛堂会员：

 

因应新冠状肺炎疫情的发展，基于公众健康及防疫的多重考量，本佛堂经过讨论与质询后做出了艰难的安排，决定取消原定于2020年5月的卫塞节公共活动。并且改为户内活动在5月7日（星期四）于本佛堂举办。

以避免人潮过度拥挤，请有意参与活动的会员事先登记，每个人的探访时间大约维持在2小时。

此外，我们将于活动当天，施行体温检测，并且定时的消毒活动场地。

 

有关卫塞节公共活动的重要通知如下：

 

一，今年的卫塞节活动将于5月7日（星期四）在本佛堂举行，为期一日;

二，个人探访时间请控制于2小时左右;

三，有意参与今年佛堂卫塞节以及预购鲜果供佛的堂友，请事先向Andy (96600188)登记。

Celebrate the New Year at Our Lohei Night

If you haven’t got your Lohei Night tickets yet, this Sunday is a great time to get them.

Tickets will still be available over the LNY opening (24th evening and 25th), but it gets busy and confusing, so beat the rush.

If you just want individual seats and not a full table, Alice and Vivien are putting those together now, so chat to them and they can help you form a table.

Price Rise – Incense

Due to rising costs, we’ve had to adjust the pricing of the Miracle and Miracle Gold incense from $18 per carton to $20. We’ll try to hold this price as long as possible. Both varieties are currently available at the Shrine.

New Opening Date

There has been a change in the date that the Shrine will reopen post-Vesak. It was previously published as Sunday 16th, but please note that we will now be opening on Sunday 9th June.

If you have marked your calendar with other opening dates leading up to Deepavali, these have all shifted by one week. The website event calendar has the updated correct dates.
